We had a record in heat in the state of Washington today. North Bend was 113 degrees. Our family has been drinking tons of water, going to friends pools, malls, libraries, grandparents pool, and the lake! I don't ever remember a time where it was this hot. If feels like Arizona, which I like. I will admit though, that it's even a little too hot for me and I have hiked in Arizona before when it was 110 degrees. I will say that I like it better than the rain though.

Kathy turns 34 today. She is a wonderful wife and mother and we love her so much. We pray that God will bless her even more this year. I love this woman!

Drew's First Basketball Game

Drew is playing in the Franklin Pierce League to start his basketball career. He had a great time. I think he shot around 7 or 8 times, making one of his shots. I have seen better from him at home or practice, but I think he was a little nervous and excited! It was a packed gym with Grandpa and Grandma Iverson there. They have 4 players on the floor at a time with a coach being the 5th player to make sure that each player gets a shot. As a dad growing up with a basketball in my hand, it was very weird seeing a product of me on the basketball floor again. We are very thankful that Drew has a great time playing any sport and how much fun it is for him. I think Reese really wanted to play also.

Drew had the flu today so he missed his second game. Please pray that this goes away soon. It was not fun seeing him sick all day.

Us Iverson's love all of our friends. We especially love friends that feel so comfortable at our house that they take a little nap. Some even snore a little! We try to please our guests that come over, so anyone that feels a little tired, come on over!

The Iverson family got a new car! It's not a new new car but a new used car. We bought a 2003 Acura TL! This red sedan with a Bose radio system fits our family's needs right now. It has 68K on it and rides really smooth. So if you see us cruising around in it, Honk! Praise the Lord that He found us a car. An answer to prayer.

New Position for Kyle

I know I haven't written all summer but God has a change for my life that I am excited for and that I get to meet new people and try to impact their lives. I have excepted a P.E. position for this year. I will be at 3 schools: Pope Elementary, Waller Road Elementary, and my brother in laws schoo (he's the vice principal there)-Brouillet Elementary.

Please pray that this new opportunity will somehow impact kids, staff, and the communities, and that people can see God through me!

Drew Turns 5!!!

Drew turned 5 years old on June 20th! I can hardly believe how big he's getting! We spent his birthday at The Great Wolf Lodge. We had a great time. Tons of fun for all of us. The boys hung out in the kiddy pool section most of the time and we all played video games (Drew won 250 tickets in the arcade!) So much fun!

Drew loved the slide!Drew wanted to have a baseball game at the park for his birthday, so that's what we did! It was tons of fun and he loved every minute of it. (Thanks to Lindsey for the great picture!!!)Drew is a wonderful boy. We are so thankful for him and the joy he brings. His decision to ask Jesus into his heart this year was the biggest blessing a mother could ask for. He loves to be active (soccer, baseball, basketball, tennis, golf, you name, he loves it), but also enjoys reading and doing puzzles. He is a very special little boy and we love him so much! We know God has wonderful plans for his life and we can't wait to see what those will be.

Our Daddy is Great

So sorry for the very delayed posts. This is my first time ever posting on our blog. Might be the last, depending on how this goes! :)

We had a very fun Father's Day celebrating how great our daddy is. My friend Lindsey and I sent our husband's on a little "daddy's favorite things" adventure. We had intended for them to do a geo-cache adventure and find each location with the GPS, but I didn't do it right!!! Beginner's bad luck! So, it started with Kyle and his friend Sean going to Baskin Robbins for Mocha Blasts. Next, on to the driving range to hit a bucket of balls. Then, to the park for pizza and "park play time" with the kids. Lastly, back to our place for snacks and a game of cards. On Father's Day, we hit Starbucks and spent the day at the Iverson's lake place. We had a wonderful time celebrating Kyle and what a wonderful father he is to our boys. We are all so blessed, and LOVE HIM VERY MUCH!

Kyle's 35th Birthday

Kathy did a great thing for my birthday this year. She surprised me last weekend by flying Mark Lepp, my friend from Sac-town, CA. here for the weekend. I had no idea. We spent the weekend at the cabin and had a great time. I don't think I will ever forget this! We did go swimming and it was cold. It was very cold. Did I mention that it was cold! Anyhow, it was 90 degrees outside though so we got warm really quick. Mark and I got a chance to golf again. We tried out Bayshore, near Shelton. Mark beat me this time and it was really fun. I did see Mark get inappropriate with a bear (see picture). Anyhow, I had a great birthday today. My class was very excited that it was my birthday. They sang Happy Birthday to me and then I found five other students to sing it to me in different ways in Spanish, Japanese, Sign Language, Thailand (Thai), and Russian.

Tonight, Drew and Reese gave me a new poker game for our new computer. Kathy and Drew made me dinner. It was pizza with the cheese in the crust. They hand made it! It was yummy. My family is having an open house at that cabin this weekend, where I get to have another birthday celebration.

Every year I think this but I really think it's special to share my birthday with my mom. She had me as a birthday gift. I think that's pretty rare. I love her so much and I am so glad that she is not working anymore.

I am excited what God has in store for me this year. I think He is really going to challenge me and stretch me in ways I never knew. I am involved in the Truth Project Bible study on Sunday nights, I just was asked to be in a small group of men (7) to do a study on "Wild at Heart" video series and book study, and after this 8 week group, I am starting a very small men's group with three other guys. I am so excited! I pray that my family, my boys, my friends, and colleagues see me grow as a Christian this year and years to come. Please pray for me.

On Mother's Day, I surprised Kathy and the boys to go to Johnny's Dock. They had so much food!

Drew last Saturday had game #2 and he scored a goal. This video is not the goal but close to another one. He also got to play goalie. No one scored on him. The won their second game if anyone was keeping track (Me).

Our friends Dave and Erica McNicol had their baby dedicated at our church this last Sunday. Here is a picture of baby Marcus. His initials to his name are MJ. I know already he is going to be a baller!

My wife is the best mother I know. She has a gift from God to know what to do and say to our children at all times. She does so much for our family. I really don't know how she does it. Drew's First Soccer Game!

Drew had a great time at his first soccer game. He had a lot of support people there to cheer him on. My roommate from SPU, Jim Kim came, along with Carl, Betsy and her 2 kids, my parents, and of course Reese, mom and dad. Unofficially they won the game and I say that because they don't keep score but it was 5-2. I think we need to work on spacing though because at this age, everyone just follows the ball. Pretty cute!

Kathy, Reese, and I got a chance to go to Drew's first ever soccer practice last Thursday night. We were so proud of him. He even scored a goal! Kathy and I jumped up so high an excitement. Hopefully, in the real games we can try to control our excitement. Here is one of the drills.

Great News!

Kathy and I have great news to share with all of you! Drew accepted Jesus into his heart last night. After Cubbies at our church, Drew was asking Kathy questions about Heaven in the car and he said that he accepted Jesus into his heart and asked Jesus to take away all of his yucky sins! Kathy pulled the car over and prayed with him. He came home to tell me and I was so happy. I got a chance to talk to him about what that means. We called Grandma Mullen and Grandpa and Grandma Iverson and they were so happy as well. I cried tears of joy. Both Kathy and I were so proud of that moment. As parents, I don't know what words would make us happier! Amen!

Happy Easter! He is Risen!

I think Easter is my favorite holiday. It's always a reminder of what Christ has done for our sins and for us. Our family went to my parents church this year. They go to the Church Of The Nazarene in Puyallup. This year the service was at the Puyallup Fair. They brought in big toys for the kids afterwards. It was fun!

After the service we went to my parents house and had a wonderful meal made by my beautiful wife. Nick and I hid some Easter eggs upstairs for the kids to enjoy.

We headed to Orting for our final destination of the day to the Coffey's house for the annual Easter egg hunt. Both the kids and the adults get to participate. It was really fun to see our boys go get the eggs. During the adult contest, which even has camouflage eggs to find, it was pouring rain. We all had our rain gear on though so it wasn't so bad.

Baseball players

My dad and I took Drew and Reese to Peach park the other day to play baseball. Drew is a very good hitter and Reese gives daddy the ball after each pitch. Notice the lefty in the family!

Drew's 1st Lost Tooth

Drew lost his first tooth this week. The tooth fairy had to make an appearance. He was so excited to see the tooth fairy. He was so scared though that he ended up coming in our room at 3am to sleep with us because he didn't want to see the tooth fairy. We told him that it was either daddy or mommy because we do not want to lie to our boys. Call us bad parents but this is what works in our family. I want to know from other parents out there of how much money should the tooth fairy give.

Drew's 1st Performance

Our church had a Christmas performance and the 4 and 5 years olds sang a song. This is Drew's first time performing in front of an audience. My dad said that he thinks Drew is getting pressure to perform from his parents. I can't wait to have Drew watch this when he is in high school or when he gets older. He knew every word and all the motions before this performance. Enjoy!

Kathy finally rode a seadoo. I can't believe it was her first time. Also, our family ended the summer at Alki beach in West Seattle. We have done this the last three years. Maybe we can make it a tradition. Also, I took Drew golfing for his first time. The loved riding the cart and trying to get his golf ball in the hole! We had a great summer. It was quick but very enjoyable!

I am about to experience something I have never done before. Kathy is going to New Jersey tomorrow to celebrate her grandfather's 90th birthday, and that means that I am watching the boys all by myself for 5 days straight.
I have been having good practice as I have the summer off and Kathy has been working more but I think this will be different. So if you have any good ideas for me or just prayer to get through this, that would be great. I am looking at it as a great time to bond with my boys and hopefully they will survive.
Reese has a 102 temp. though. He is starting to get more teeth so he is crying more and has a fever. Please pray for patience as well for me. I know I will appreciate everything my wife does for me a lot during this time.
I hope Kathy has a great time with her mom, Betsy, and her daughter Linnea!

4th of July

Everybody keeps telling me change is good because I am going to a new school. Well, I made a change also. Check out my arm! Yes, I got a tatoo for the first time in my life and decided to show everyone on the 4th. Big blow in my family. Of course, my mom and dad were really shocked as all of you that read this might be as well. In this picture, I am not smiling because I have to look the part as well. When you have a tatoo, you have to look the part also. So change is GOOD everyone. Take that!

Notice Drew's earmuffs! He really doesn't like the loud fireworks and was very scared the whole time. Reese, on the other hand, loved everything! I hope he keeps this attitude throughout his childhood.

It was my first day off from school today because yesterday was my last day of school. I said goodbye to my old portable today at Wildwood and saw my new one at Hunt. I use to think that my portable was not that bad and I still think that but I saw my new one today. It was so bad. Maybe I will take pictures and show everyone.
Anyhow, I need a lot of prayer because each time I go to Hunt, I find something negative, when I am trying to keep an open mind and think positive. I know God will place me wherever he seems will be best, so I keep thinking he has me there for a reason. It's probably to remind me that there are treasures in Heaven and not at Hunt!

New School

Take Your Child to Work Day

Last Thursday, was take your child to work day so I brought Drew. He only stayed for 2 hours, but it was really fun. He didn't want to leave the classroom. Hopefully, he can keep that attitude throughout his older years.

Thursday, this week, I have to choose a new school. I am the involunteer transfer at my school this year. It does not look like I am staying like in the past with this situation. Please pray for me during this transition.

Cabin update

This is my mom and dad's new cabin. It's suppose to be ready June 1st but my parents think a little later. Anyhow, it will have running water, toilet, and a great place to get away and fellowship with friends.

Reese

Reese made some big strides this last week. He learned how to crawl! He is moving everywhere. he loves to follow his brother around the house. When he is done crawling, his knees are all red. He needs to develop callouses like daddy and Drew.

He also took a bath with Drew and didn't care for it too much. He cried the whole time. It was fun for Drew though. Enjoy his crying picture!

Family Problems

Sunday, I was feeling very sick and told Kathy I have to go to the doctor's. So I went to the walk in clinic which was open from 1-4:30pm. I got there at 1pm and there was 21 people already waiting. I waited 20 minutes and then started getting really sick. I was so sick that I left the office, got in my car, and tried to make it home. I ended up throwing up in an empty parking lot. I have never done that before!

I got home, crawled in bed, and tried to sleep. Not being able to sleep, I started getting worse, so I told Kathy that I need to go to the emergency room. She said that I would probably wait along time to get in there, which I would have. She called my dad and he came to take me back to the walk in clinic that I had already tried to be in earlier. They got me in right away and had me lay down in a room. The nurse took my temperature, which was 103.5 and couldn't believe that it was that high. Next, she was taking my blood pressure while I was laying down, sitting up, and standing. While I was standing, I told the nurse that I was going to be sick and she reached over to get the garbage can, and I fainted. I woke up to hear my dad saying my name over and over again.

The doctor came in and said that he thought that I had pneumonia. So I had to go straight to the hospital, which I have never gone before. They started me on IVs. I finally got to go home Monday night but had to go to my doctor's the next day. I have never felt like this before. I have had no energy, in fact, going up the stairs my first day back was so hard. I was out of breath when I finally reached the top. I have been feeling better though because the medicine is finally working.

Tonight, Kathy went to the doctors because she has an ear infection. As I am writing this, I have never seen her in this much pain. Her left ear is just pounding.

Please pray that our family heals up. We just want to feel normal again and have everyone healthy.

My dad sent me this picture of the new cabin out in Shelton. It's starting to look great and our family is getting very excited to enjoy it.

Big Week For Us

We had a great week in the Iverson family. First off, Drew finally went poopy on the potty last Sunday. We have been storing up gifts for him if he ever went so he got to have all of those on Sunday. We gave him his golf clubs, toy soldiers, a football player that kicks field goals, new underwear, and gum which he absolutely loves to chew.
On Tuesday, the day before Valentine's, I sent Reese's heart picture to King 5, Komo, and Kiro news to see if they would use it for Valentine's Day. I received an email back from King 5, asking if that birthmark was real. I had Kathy call them and they asked if they could come to our house that day to film a short story, so they did and Reese was on the news that night and the next day. I will try to get the video so I can put it on the blog for people to see.
Our friend Lindsey Draper came over and took some amazing pictures of the boys so here are a few of them.
God has been challenging me lately to read his word more and pray with my wife more often. I also told Kathy yesterday that I want to lead a Bible study group in the Spring so please be praying for me to follow through on this.

Drew got to go on his first bus ride over the winter break with Grandpa's basketball team. He was pretty excited about it! He said that it was really bumpy and then he fell asleep.

Kathy and Reese are Back!

Reese got to go on his first plane ride. He and mommy went to Cali to visit the Lepps, a surprise for Kathy's 32nd birthday. A highlight of the trip was to see their new house. Kathy said that she had a great time.

As they were in another state, Drew and I also had a great time. We went to the YMCA, Grandpa's basketball games, McDonald's, and a lot of coffee for dad. Drew doesn't like to sit very much!

It's good to have everyone back again and to have great meals.

Kathy's Birthday

So it's Kathy's birthday this Thursday, Jan. 18th. She is going to be 32 years old. I am giving her a big surprise for that day but she doesn't know yet what it is. I think I am going to tell her about it on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. Anyhow, I think she is going to like it.

She is sick with the flu today (Monday) MLK day. It's a new thing for me to be taking care of 3 people but I am managing. It's a great reminder of all that she does for me. What a great wife!!!! I love her so much.

Anyhow, maker sure to say Happy Birthday to the Birthday girl on Thursday!

I sure did enjoy my winter vacation. It was fun to be home and have friends over. We had the Lepps from California stay with us. It was so good to spend some time with them. Christmas was great also. Drew got what he has wanted for a long time but dad wanted one also. See picture. Reese started talking baby talk alot. He smiles so much. Our family kept our tradition of going to a hotel before Christmas. We went to Seattle this year. Kathy got a bonus from her work, otherwise, we were not going to go this year. God blessed us in this way because Kathy and I have done this tradition every year since we have been married (10 years this July). Here are some pictures from the break!

Huskies win

We watched the Apple cup this year. Reese got all dressed up for the event which helped the Huskies win 35-32. Great game and fun to watch with grandpa and grandma.

I'm Behind!

The Boys had fun on Halloween and Grandma Mullen loved seeing them. Our family went to 3 neighborhood houses and then to our church harvest party. Reese is laughing and smiling all the time and starting to enjoy watching Drew and I play down stairs. Mommy is doing the greatest job with Drew and Reese. We are asking for prayer from our friends on what to do with a job for me. Either to get another job that pays more or have some kind of supplemental job for me. I love teaching but it's not paying the bills right now, so we have to find another way. We are faithful that God will provide for us as He always has and will do.

Weekend excitement

We had a great weekend. We all went to the Wildwood barn dance. We got to dress up in our costumes. Kyle got to go to a great movie with Sean Draper on Friday night, The Departed. Kathy and I got to go out alittle bit on Saturday night to the Mandolin Cafe in Tacoma while grandpa watched the boys. Saturday we went to another pumpkin patch with the family and got 3 new free pumpkins. Drew did the sling shot and got it in the target so he won a small prize. We also went through a corn maze. Sunday, Kathy went to a baby shower and got to bond with other women.

Us Iverson's really know how to have fun! We went to the Maris pumpkin farm on Friday and had a great time. Drew got to go on a cow train ride, and all of us got our first ever hayride. Drew picked out a pumpkin. We had a picnic lunch. The weather was great. It was an awesome day.

The Iverson family had a great night last night at the Wildwood skate night. Drew talked about going the whole day. Once we got there, Drew said that he didn't want to skate. He thought that there were a lot of people skating. Mom got his skates on and he was off. He loved it! Reese was all smiles.

Drew loves to play with water! Here he is wetting his hair to try to look like Daddy!

The other night, mommy went to check up on Drew when he was suppose to be sleeping. Drew had taken down his letters that spell out his name and the nails that held them up. When mommy came in his room to check on him he said, "Mommy look what I have in my mouth". It was one of the NAILS!

Yesterday, Drew put his Teddy Grams in a bowl and put water in them because he wanted to make some cereal. Of course, he didn't eat them though. It was for Daddy or Mommy. We didn't try them!

Reese likes to play a game with mommy or daddy. He spits up on us and then he smiles, like he is laughing at us! Here is one of his pictures after the results!

Check this future football player out! He really likes the band and the cheerleaders right now. In fact, he really likes playing the drums. Maybe he won't play sports and he will be playing the drums in the band. I don't really think it will turn out like that but it will be his choice.

Reese is smiling alot lately. It's really fun to hear his baby talk. He has discovered his hands also.

Puyallup Fair

Our family went to the Puyallup Fair on Friday. It was so fun! Drew loved going on all the rides. It was different with a double stroller because it was hard to turn it in large crowds. Reese did a great job also of sitting and eating. Mom and dad loved the food and really enjoyed getting out of the house and watching Drew get so excited!
